According to worldsteel data, member nations produced 1,230.6 Mt of crude steel overall in the first eight months of this year.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The World Steel Association (worldsteel) announced the list of the top ten steel-producing countries during August this year.
According to the Steel Trade Association, China remained the world's largest producer of steel, producing 77.4 million tonnes (Mt) in August 2025. This was a slight 0.7% drop from the same month the previous year. China produced 671.8 Mt of crude steel in the first eight months of this year.
With a production of 14.1 Mt, India came in second. Production in the nation rose 13.2% from August 2024. A total of 108.9 Mt was produced between January and August of 2025. The third-largest producer of steel was the United States. Compared to the previous year, the country's production increased by 3.2% to 7.2 Mt.

The other countries to feature in the top ten list of producers, along with their output in Mt are as follows: Japan (6.6), Russia (5.5), South Korea (5.2), Turkiye (3.4), Germany (2.6), Brazil (2.9) and Iran (1.6),.
Iran’s output increased the most, rising 17.9% from the same month the previous year. Also, India’s steel output surged higher by 13.2% year-over-year. In the meantime, output from Germany and South Korea fell 10.5% and 6.1%, respectively, throughout the course of the year.
145.3 million tons of crude steel were produced worldwide, a slight 0.3% rise from the previous year. In the first eight months of this year, member countries produced 1,230.6 Mt of crude steel overall, according to worldsteel figures.
