U.S. Raw Steel Output Recorded Notable Jump

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The most recent weekly domestic production data from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) shows that during the week ending September 27, 2025, U.S. weekly raw steel production rose by about 6.8%. The comparison between this week and the same week last year serves as the basis for this.

The nation produced 1.770 million net tons (NT) of domestic raw steel during the week. The domestic mill was operating at 78.1% capacity. Recall that during the same week last year, production was 1.657 million NT, with a little lower capacity utilization rate of 74.6%.

In comparison to the week ending September 20, 2025, when 1,754,000 net tons were produced and the capability utilization rate was 77.4%, the output increased marginally by 0.9% in the week ending September 27, 2025.

The Southern region produced the most, at 805,000 net tons. The Great Lakes area produced 568,000 net tons throughout the week. Productions in North East-101, Midwest-233, and Western-63 are the other regions (in thousand net tons).

With a capability utilization rate of 77.1%, the adjusted year-to-date output as of September 27, 2025, was 66.749 million net tons. Compared to the same period in 2024, when production was 65.309 million net tons with a capacity utilization rate of 76.2%, this indicates a 2.2% rise.
