MONTREAL (Scrap Monster): The Philippines is advancing a National Plastic Action Roadmap aimed at reducing plastic pollution and accelerating the country’s transition toward a circular plastics economy.
The initiative is being developed through the National Plastic Action Partnership Philippines, with participation from government agencies, technical experts, businesses, civil society organizations and development partners.
Roadmap Built Around National Plastics Analysis
The roadmap follows a nationwide assessment of plastic flows examining how materials move through consumption, collection, recovery and disposal systems.
Based on those findings, a System Change Scenario has been developed that places greater emphasis on preventing plastic waste before it is generated, alongside improvements in collection, recycling and disposal.
