Over a 21-year period, the combined mine plan seeks to unlock an additional 2.7 million tonnes of copper production. By combining some operations at Codelco's Andina mine with Anglo American's Los Bronces mine, the move will increase annual production by around 120,000 metric tons of copper while lowering expenses per ton by about 15%.

The combined output from Los Bronces and Andina would place among the top five copper mines worldwide with the expected increase in production under the joint mine plan. The two nearby mines' mining operations would be coordinated with the infrastructure and plant capacity now in place.

AAS and Codelco will share ownership and control of the new operating business. Both parties will receive an equal portion of the copper output and the financial gains made possible by the plan, as well as any related expenses and liabilities.
