Innovative Technology Transforms Ocean Plastics and Compact Discs

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The technological innovations by Nimble for Good has led to launch of new products that are manufactured by recycling ocean plastics and used compact discs.

Two years back, the company had announced launch of an innovative product named ‘Bottle Case’- a cellphone case made out entirely from recycled plastic bottles. In an attempt to promote material collection and recycling efforts, the company donated 5% of its sales revenue to all volunteers who work to protect the oceans and marine life. The unique programme had helped in keeping plastics out of landfills and oceans.

Recently, the company launched a new product named ‘Disc Case’- the first protective case for Apple iPhones that is made from 100% recycled compact discs. The collected CD’s are initially washed and cleaned. The recycling process separates out the polycarbonate components, which are used to manufacture phone cases. The innovative process transforms massive stream of toxic waste into sustainable use. The protective cases thus made, are 100% recyclable, the company noted.

The company also manufactures a wide range of products such as portable chargers, wireless chargers and fast-charge kits. Over the past two years, the company has collected over 3,000 lbs of e-waste, phone cases and CDs from customers.
