For every device purchased under the scheme, Pure Technology and S2S will plant a tree in the Amazon rainforest.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Pure Technology, in partnership with IT Asset Disposition leader S2S, has launched a new initiative aimed at combating electronic waste. The initiative, originally planned to launch earlier this year in March, was delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The new refurbishment and recovery initiative named zeroC offers life-cycle management services for electronic devices including laptops, smartphones and tablets. For every device purchased under the scheme, Pure Technology and S2S will plant a tree in the Amazon rainforest.

According to Cliff Fox, COO, Pure Technology, the scheme offers an additional option for people to treat their devices, by offering them a cost-effective option to get most use out of their devices. The refurbishment of a laptop through the scheme leads to savings of at least equivalent of 250 kilogrms of carbon dioxide. In addition, organizations could save nearly 50% when compared with brand new purchases.

The scheme is quite flexible-offering solutions in response to customer’s need, as to whether they want to refresh their current kit or buy refurbished or a mix of both these. Incidentally, recent studies indicate that UK households and businesses produce around 1.45 million tonnes of electronic waste per year.

Pure Technology and S2S has partnered on similar e-waste projects in the past too.
