BEIJING (Scrap Monster): Chinese scrap metal prices showed a mixed performance on the ScrapMonster Price Index as of Wednesday, September 16, 2026. Copper scrap prices edged lower, while aluminum scrap recorded modest gains in select categories. Stainless steel prices declined slightly, whereas brass, bronze, and steel scrap prices held steady with no change.
Copper scrap prices declined across select grades, continuing the recent downward trend.
Aluminum scrap prices increased in select categories covered by the index.
Brass/bronze scrap prices remained unchanged.
Stainless steel scrap prices edged lower across all grades, with 201 SS as the only exception.
Steel scrap, including #1 HMS and Cast Iron Scrap, recorded no price movement.
Copper scrap prices on the ScrapMonster China Copper Scrap Price Index recorded a slight decline across select grades, compared with the previous day.
#1 Copper Bare Bright, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, and #1 Copper Wire and Tubing: Prices declined by CNY 50 per MT.
#1 Insulated Copper Wire (85% Recovery), #2 Insulated Copper Wire (50% Recovery), Cu/Al Radiators, Heater Cores, and Harness Wire (35% Recovery): Prices remained unchanged from the previous day.
Copper Transformer Scrap, Cu Yokes, Scrap Electric Motors, and Sealed Units: Prices showed no change from the previous session.
Aluminum scrap prices on the ScrapMonster China Aluminum Scrap Price Index moved higher across most categories.
6063 Aluminum Extrusions and Aluminum Ingots: Prices increased by CNY 50 per metric ton each.

Brass/bronze scrap prices in China recorded no variation on the ScrapMonster China Brass/Bronze Price Index.

Red Brass and Yellow Brass: Prices were unchanged from the previous day.
Chinese scrap metal prices showed a mixed trend. Copper and most stainless steel grades declined, while several aluminum categories posted gains. Brass, bronze and steel scrap prices remained unchanged.
