Chinese Scrap Metal Prices See Mixed Trend on the Index- September 15, 2026

BEIJING (Scrap Monster): Chinese scrap metal prices posted a mixed trend on the ScrapMonster Price Index as of Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

Copper scrap slipped slightly, aluminum scrap posted a broad-based jump across all categories, brass/bronze and stainless steel dipped, and steel scrap remained stable without any change. 

• Copper scrap slipped across select grades, breaking from firmer levels seen recently.

• Aluminum scrap was the standout, posting gains in every category tracked on the index.

• Brass/bronze scrap eased, led by lower Red Brass and Yellow Brass prices.

• Stainless steel scrap inched lower on three grades while the rest held flat.

• Steel scrap (#1 HMS and Cast Iron Scrap) reported no price change.

Copper Scrap Prices

Copper scrap prices on the ScrapMonster China Copper Scrap Price Index recorded a slight decline across select grades on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, compared with the previous day.

• #1 Copper Bare Bright, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, and #1 Copper Wire and Tubing: down by CNY 750 per MT.

• #1 Insulated Copper Wire (85% Recovery): dipped by CNY 350 per MT.

• #2 Insulated Copper Wire (50% Recovery) and Cu/Al Radiators: dropped by CNY 100 per MT.

• Heater Cores: declined by CNY 300 per MT.

• Harness Wire (35% Recovery): saw a dip of CNY 50 per MT

• Copper Transformer Scrap, Cu Yokes, Scrap Electric Motors, and Sealed Units: recorded no fluctuation.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

Aluminum scrap prices on the ScrapMonster China Aluminum Scrap Price Index moved higher across most categories on September 15, 2026.

• 6063 Aluminum Extrusions and Aluminum Ingots: increased by CNY 50 per metric ton each.

• Aluminum Radiators, Aluminum Transformers, Used Beverage Cans (UBC) and Zorba 90% INF: recorded no variation in prices.

• E.C. Aluminum Wire, Old Cast, and Old Sheet: recorded a rise of CNY 50 per metric ton.

Steel Scrap Prices

#1 HMS prices held steady as of September 15, 2026, on the ScrapMonster China Steel Scrap Price Index.

Cast Iron Scrap reported no change in prices.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices

Stainless steel scrap prices on the ScrapMonster China Stainless Steel Price Index registered a slight decline across select grades as of Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

• 201 SS, 304 SS Solid, 304 SS Turning, and Shred SS: remained unchanged.

• 309 SS and 316 SS Solid: decreased by CNY 50 per MT each.

• 310 SS: saw a dip of CNY 100 per MT.

Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices

Brass/bronze scrap prices in China recorded a decline as of September 15, 2026, on the ScrapMonster China Brass/Bronze Price Index.

• Brass Radiator: held steady.

• Red Brass and Yellow Brass: witnessed a decline of CNY 50 per MT each.
