SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Amcor Rigid Packaging (ARP) announced launching of a ground-breaking technology that will help to boost recycling of small plastic bottles. The technological advancement, announced in conjunction with the America Recycles Day will make it possible to recycle billions of 50 ml sized spirits bottles.
According to ARP press release, it is the first company to apply the technology to small bottles. It must be noted that, despite being made of recyclable polyethylene terephthalate (PET), these bottles are often not captured in recycling process, mainly due to their small size. They tend to slip out of the sorting process at material recycling facilities. The comparatively smaller size presents challenges at most U.S. recycling facilities, it noted.

Amcor's New Recyclable Sachet to Significantly Reduce Carbon Footprint
Amcor has been constantly working hard to increase the recyclability of its products, in line with its commitment to have all its packaging recyclable, compostable or reusable by 2025.
The team of engineers at Amcor has designed a container that collapses in a controlled way so as to maximise its width. The new design would no longer slip through the cracks at most U.S. recycling facilities, the company claimed. The design is based on the Association of Plastic Recyclers specific guidelines.
