SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Global packaging company Amcor plc announced launch of a new recyclable pouch in Latin America. The company claimed it as the first designed to be recycled plastic packaging for powdered chocolate to be launched in the regional market.
The sachet, initially launched in Colombia, reduces carbon footprint by 53% and water consumption by 84% when recycled, the company claimed. However, the company has not made public the details of materials with which the pouch is being made.

Commenting on the innovative product, Fabio Gonzalez, Amcor Colombia R&D Manager noted that the new sachet is designed to be recycled in accordance with industry standards. The new product reiterates the company’s commitment to reach its earlier stated goal of having all of its packaging to be designed to be recyclable or reusable by 2025, Gonzalez added.
The company has been in the forefront in launching innovative products in several markets. For instance, it had launched designed to be recycled packaging for dry soups in Chile. Also, it had introduced flexible packaging made with recycled content for food in Australia. In addition, Amcor had introduced designed to be recycled retort pouch for wet pet food in the Netherlands.
