SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Zurich, Switzerland-headquartered global packaging manufacturer Amcor announced partnership with McKinsey.org- a nonprofit founded by McKinsey & Co.
Through this partnership, Amcor will support the nonprofit’s ‘Rethinking Recycling’ initiative in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The initiative aims to improve waste management and recycling among communities in the capital city of the country, by helping them to recycle one-third of the materials that had ended up in landfills previously.

Founded in 2018, the ‘Rethinking Recycling’ initiative focuses on building community programs to maximize recycling and deliver better working conditions in waste management. The initiative commenced a pilot project in Buenos Aires’ Barrio 31, which was later scaled up to Olavarría city. The three-year project aims to roll out comprehensive recycling solution across the city, with major expansion planned for 2022 and 2023.
David Clark, Amcor’s vice president for sustainability stated that the company is pleased to partner with the initiative to deliver a sustainable recycling system that could be applied in communities across the globe. The initiative aligns with its 2025 Sustainability Pledge and commitment to promote waste management and recycling infrastructure, he added.
