SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Century Aluminum achieved a major milestone at its Mt. Holly smelter in South Carolina, celebrating a production expansion that is expected to raise total U.S. primary aluminum output by approximately 10%.
Those present at the event included U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, Senior Counselor to President Trump Dr. Peter Navarro, South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, Century Aluminum CEO Jesse Gary, and company employees.

CEO Jesse Gary noted that the federal government's trade policies have encouraged them to make long-term investment in American aluminum production. The latest increase in production represents an important step toward rebuilding the country's primary aluminum industry, he added.
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick described the expansion as a significant boost for U.S. manufacturing. South Carolina leaders welcomed the development, emphasizing its economic benefits for the state. The expansion will further strengthen South Carolina's reputation as a leading producer of strategically important industrial metals, they noted.
Separately, Century Aluminum announced that it will release its second-quarter 2026 financial results on August 6, 2026, after the close of U.S. markets.
