SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The recently launched e-waste recycling partnership in Zambia aims to reduce environmental pollution through safe disposal of end-of-life electronics.
The Lusaka-based MultiChoice Zambia announced that it has entered into a new partnership with NamiGreen, in a bid to boost recycling of discarded electronics in a safe way, thereby protecting the environment. The partnership is in line with the principles of recently launched Keep Zambia Clean, Green and Healthy campaign.

Mr. Malupenga, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting noted that the government ids highly pleased with the partnership. It demonstrates the commitment of the partners to ensure wellbeing of the environment. It will ensure that the heavy metals contained in electronic devices are handled in the safest manner possible, he added. Further, he called upon domestic companies to establish recycling plants for treating rapidly rising electronic waste in the country.
John Msimuko, Director General, the Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA) congratulated the new partnership and expressed the hope that it will help address the emerging environmental issue in an effective way. He urged citizens not to dispose of their old electronics in landfills or burn them openly.
