Compared to the previous year, the production of crude steel fell 5.1% in Russia and other CIS+Ukraine and 4.5% in South America.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): In July of this year, 150.1 million tonnes (Mt) of crude steel were produced by the 70 countries that are members of the World Steel Association (worldsteel), a marginal 1.3% drop from the same month the year before.
Asia and Oceania was the region that produced the most steel during the month, with 110.4 Mt. The EU-27 region was the second-largest producer with 10.2 Mt. The North American nations ranked third with a production of 9.4 Mt. The other regions' output (in Mt) is divided as follows: Africa (1.9), South America (3.6), the Middle East (4.4), Other Europe (3.6), and Russia and the rest of the CIS+ Ukraine (6.7).

The Middle East output witnessed a robust surge by 27.7% over the year. The North American region had an annual increase in crude steel production. Over the course of the month, the region's steel production rose by 5.8%. The output in the Other Europe region increased by 2.6% annually.
The worldsteel report indicates that production declined at all other locations during the month. EU-27 saw the biggest production loss, at 7.0%. Compared to the previous year, the production of crude steel fell 5.1% in Russia and other CIS+Ukraine and 4.5% in South America.
Meanwhile, Asia and Oceania and African regions reported marginal dip, with regional steel output falling by 2% and 1.9% respectively.
The total output for the initial six months of 2025 was 1,086.2 Mt, 1.9% less than the corresponding period in 2024, according to worldsteel data.
