SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The World Steel Association (worldsteel) declared the release of a safety and health data report for the steel industry. The report sheds light on the industry's continued dedication to the health and safety of all of its employees worldwide.

In the past year, 67 deaths were reported by Worldsteel members worldwide. When compared to 82 in 2023, this indicates an 18% decrease. The lowest global fatal frequency rate (FFR) ever reported was 0.016. The total recordable injury frequency rate (TRIFR) decreased significantly from 6.20 in 2023 to 3.54 in 2024, the paper states.

According to the research, the global lost time injury frequency rate (LTIFR) of 0.70 is also the lowest on record. According to the survey, the top five causes of lost time injuries (LTIs) in 2024 were falling objects, slipping, using manual tools, operating machinery, and falling from a height.

The aforementioned figures demonstrate how the application of cutting-edge technologies and learning exchanges is helping the global steel sector significantly improve safety and health. According to the analysis, contractors are still a vulnerable group in the global steel business.
