WestRock Company to Construct New Corrugated Box Plant

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Atlanta-headquartered WestRock Company announced plans to build a new corrugated box plant in Longview, Washington. The new plant is aimed at meeting growing demand from its regional customers in the Pacific Northwest.

The proposed plant will serve all industry segments and markets in the Pacific Northwest. Upon completion, the plant will replace the company’s existing Longview corrugated operations. It will be co-located with the Longview paper mill operations and will play a major role in boosting the integration of the mill’s containerboard.

Commenting on the development, David B. Sewell, chief executive officer, WestRock said that the company’s corrugated packaging business in the Pacific Northwest continues to perform well, with strong relationships with customers in attractive growth markets. The new corrugated packaging plant will serve these customers even better in the future. The state-of-the-art manufacturing facility will provide new capabilities and efficiencies for its customers, he added.

Also, the company announced appointment of E. Jean Savage, president and chief executive officer of Trinity Industries, Inc. to the company’s Board of Directors.
