USALCO Aluminum Facility Violated Pollution Norms

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Locals in Hamilton's Lindenwald area claimed that the USALCO aluminum plant nearby had been polluting the environment against state regulations.

Some residents expressed their concerns to the Southwest Ohio Air Quality Agency representatives during a meeting. It should be mentioned that throughout the last month, the authorities have received about 25 complaints regarding particulate emission from the facility.

The Southwest Ohio Air Quality Agency is currently collaborating with USALCO, according to Kerri Castlen, Assistant Director. The agency had requested that the business provide an expedited action plan regarding the matter. According to Castlen, the agency is currently reviewing the plan, which was filed in early June.

In order to stop fugitive dust emissions from wind erosion or truck in-loading or off-loading, the company will take the necessary steps to cover the alumina pile with a building. According to Castlen, stack testing will also be done on the five stacks that are closest to the neighborhood.

The locals voiced their worries that the particulate emissions would negatively affect their health.
