With 802,000 net tons, the Southern region produced the most.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): According to the American Iron and Steel Institute's (AISI) most recent weekly domestic production figures, U.S. weekly raw steel production increased by about 4.80% in the week ending June 7, 2025. This is upon comparison with the production during the corresponding week a year before.
Over the course of the week, the United States produced 1.785 million net tons (NT) of domestic raw steel. The utilization rate of the domestic mill capacity was 79.5%. Remember that last year, during the same week, production was just 1.703 million NT, with a little lower capacity utilization rate of 76.7%.
The output grew by 1.6% in the week ending June 7, 2025, compared to the week ending May 31, 2025, when 1,757,000 net tons were produced and the capability utilization rate was 78.2%.
The Southern region produced the most, at 802,000 net tons. 535,000 net tons were produced in the Great Lakes region during the week. The productions (in thousand net tons) for the other regions are North East-128, Midwest-252, and Western-68.
With a capability utilization rate of 75.2%, the adjusted year-to-date output as of June 7, 2025, was 38.072 million net tons. Compared to the same time in 2024, when production was 38.165 million net tons with a capacity utilization rate of 76.2%, this indicates a 0.2% decline.
