Over the course of the week, the country produced 1.795 million net tons (NT) of raw steel domestically.

U.S. Raw Steel Production Witnessed Notable Jump

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): According to the American Iron and Steel Institute's (AISI) most recent weekly domestic production figures, U.S. weekly raw steel production increased by roughly 7.7% during the week ending September 6, 2025. This is based on a comparison between this week and the same week last year.

Over the course of the week, the country produced 1.795 million net tons (NT) of raw steel domestically. 79.2% of the domestic mill's capacity was being used. Remember that production was 1.667 million NT in the same week last year, at a modestly lower capacity utilization rate of 75.0%.

The output climbed slightly by 1.5% in the week ending September 6, 2025, compared to the week ending August 30, 2025, when 1,769,000 net tons were produced and the capability utilization rate was 78.1%.

With 802,000 net tons, the Southern region produced the most. Over the course of the week, the Great Lakes region produced 559,000 net tons. The other regions' productions (in thousand net tons) are Western-72, Midwest-240, and North East-122.

As of September 6, 2025, the adjusted year-to-date output was 61.461 million net tons, with a capability utilization rate of 77.0%. This represents a 1.9% increase over the same period in 2024, when production was 60.339 million net tons with a capacity utilization rate of 76.4%.
