In addition, it also arranges free pickup service for large electronic appliances.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Sustainable City (TSC)- the first fully-operational sustainable community in the UAE, will partner with Efate e-waste management company to manage collection and responsible recycling of electronic waste. The announcement to this effect was made by Diamond Developers, who developed TSC in 2012.
Further to the agreement, Efate has installed a 24-hour e-waste drop-off container near TSC’s main entrance. The drop-off station provides free e-waste management solution to residents as well as general public.
The discarded electronics from the station will be collected and transported to a certified e-waste recycling facility for separation and further processing. The facility will ensure reclamation of useful components towards manufacturing new products. Also, useless parts will be crushed using environment-friendly techniques.
The drop-off station will accept a wide range of electronic items including laptops, printers, tablets, mobile phones, CPUs, televisions and stereos. In addition, it also arranges free pickup service for large electronic appliances.
Faris Saeed, CEO, and co-founder of Diamond Developers urged active participation from residents and neighbours, which will help to prevent harmful and toxic electronic waste from reaching the landfill, thus supporting its mission towards a cleaner future.
