Every year, about 1 million cubic meters of logs will be sent to the complex in Plain Dealing, Louisiana, where they will be transformed into dimension lumber and other structural components.
The industrial complex will take wood waste as input and turn it into mass timber. In addition to dimension lumber, the complex will consider manufacturing mass timber to maximize the value of wood. The launch of the complex is part of company’s efforts to grow its business in the U.S. By 2027, it hopes to have 15 plants in the United States, up from the existing 10 sites.
According to the company's news release, the goal of the timber industrial complex's opening in the United States is to increase the value of wood by using it in a cascading manner. It is also taking into account plans to turn wood chips and timber debris from manufacturing into fuel for biomass power plants, biorefineries, and other beneficial goods.
