USFR Unveils $875M North Carolina Expansion with 700 New Jobs

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): U.S. Forged Rings (USFR) is expected to announce plans to build a major manufacturing hub in Hertford County, North Carolina, a project forecast to generate more than 700 high-paying jobs and $875 million in capital investment in the state’s northeastern region.

The young industrial manufacturer revealed in 2023 its intention to establish an East Coast production complex featuring piping, large fabrication, forging, and ring-rolling facilities. According to company plans, the piping and fabrication plants are targeted for completion by late 2028, with the forging and ring-rolling operations operational by the end of 2029. USFR aims to serve wind energy, nuclear, construction, shipping, mining, oil and gas, defense, and aerospace markets.

State Sen. Bobby Hanig confirmed in a public statement that the company has selected North Carolina, with a formal announcement expected alongside Gov. Josh Stein at Roanoke-Chowan Community College.

Hertford County offers strategic logistics advantages, including proximity to Charlotte-based steelmaker Nucor’s Cofield plant along the Chowan River and access to the North Carolina & Virginia Railroad. The site’s waterway, rail connectivity, utilities, and skilled labor pool were key factors in the company’s decision.
