SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): According to the latest weekly production report from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), U.S. domestic raw steel production saw a significant increase of 9.1% during the week ending November 8, 2025, compared with the same week last year.
During this period, the United States produced 1.758 million net tons (NT) of raw steel, with domestic mills operating at 76.7% of capacity. By comparison, production in the same week of 2024 was 1.612 million NT, with a slightly lower capacity utilization of 72.6%.
When compared with the previous week ending November 1, 2025, which recorded 1.740 million NT and 76.0% capacity utilization, output increased marginally by 1.0%, signaling steady growth in U.S. steel manufacturing.
Regional Production Highlights:
Southern Region: 791,000 NT – the highest production among U.S. regions.
Great Lakes: 542,000 NT.
Midwest: 258,000 NT.
Northeast: 120,000 NT.
Western Region: 47,000 NT.
Year-to-Date Performance:
As of November 8, 2025, the adjusted year-to-date raw steel output reached 77.228 million NT, with a capacity utilization rate of 77.0%. This reflects a 3.1% increase compared to the same period in 2024, when production was 74.910 million NT at 75.5% capacity utilization, underscoring sustained growth in domestic steel output.
The report indicates that U.S. steel production continues to recover steadily, driven by strong regional output and improved operational efficiency, positioning the industry for stable performance in the final months of 2025.
