3 treated after chemical burns at Liberty Steel, fire department says

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): 3 people were taken to a hospital after being reportedly burned by chemicals at a local steel plant.

The Bartonville Fire Department was called around 8:50 a.m. for two people with chemical burns at Liberty Steel.

Three people need treatment. The fire department said the three were taken by AMT to a local hospital.

“We can confirm that three employees sustained injuries during an incident at our Peoria facility earlier today. The employees received immediate medical attention.  Safety remains our highest priority, and we have initiated an internal review of the incident in accordance with our standard protocols. Out of respect for employee privacy and while the review is ongoing, we will not be providing additional details at this time.”-Liberty Steel and Wire USA
