Under the CAPN, EDF will allocate to ArcelorMittal a share of the capacity from its operating nuclear power fleet for a period of 18 years.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): ArcelorMittal has strengthened its long-term energy strategy in France by signing a Nuclear Power Production Allocation Contract (CAPN) with EDF on December 26, 2025. The agreement applies to ArcelorMittal’s production sites in France and follows the letter of intent signed by both companies in January 2024, marking a major milestone in their cooperation.

Under the CAPN, EDF will allocate to ArcelorMittal a share of the capacity from its operating nuclear power fleet for a period of 18 years. This arrangement enables the steelmaker to secure a reliable, long-term supply of low-carbon and competitively priced electricity, supporting its decarbonization objectives and enhancing the resilience of its French operations. Deliveries of electricity under the contract began on January 1, 2026.
Reiner Blaschek, CEO of ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products, said the agreement will allow the company to supply its French sites with low-carbon electricity over the long term, a key factor for maintaining the competitiveness of steel produced in France.
Béatrice Bigois, Executive Director in charge of the Customers, Services and Territories Division at EDF Group, said the contract demonstrates EDF’s commitment to providing industrial players globally.
The Nuclear Power Production Allocation Contract is an 18-year agreement providing ArcelorMittal with a share of EDF’s operating nuclear fleet capacity in France.
Deliveries started on January 1, 2026.
It ensures a stable, low-carbon, and competitively priced electricity supply, supporting decarbonization and operational resilience.
