AISI Posted Jump in U.S. Raw Steel Output in End-June

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): According to the American Iron and Steel Institute's (AISI) most recent weekly domestic production figures, U.S. weekly raw steel production increased by roughly 4.30% during the week ending June 28, 2025. This was based on a comparison between this week and the same week last year.

Over the course of the week, the United States produced 1.776 million net tons (NT) of domestic raw steel. The utilization rate of the domestic mill capacity was 79.1%. It's important to remember that, at a somewhat lower capacity utilization rate of 76.7%, production hit 1.703 million NT in the same week last year.

The output decreased by 0.6% in the week ending June 28, 2025, compared to the week ending June 21, 2025, when 1,787,000 net tons were produced and the capability utilization rate was 79.6%.

The Southern region produced the most, with 798,000 net tons. The Great Lakes region produced 560,000 net tons throughout the week. Productions (in thousand net tons) for the other regions are North East-121, Midwest-226, and Western-71.

With a capability utilization rate of 75.9%, the adjusted year-to-date output as of June 28, 2025, was 43.418 million net tons. Compared to the same period in 2024, when production was 43.275 million net tons with a capacity utilization rate of 76.2%, this indicates a 0.3% rise.
