Smurfit Kappa Paper Mill Announced Final Phase of Investment

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Smurfit Kappa- Europe’s leading corrugated packaging company announced significant investment at its Hoya paper mill in northwest Germany. Smurfit Kappa plans to replace the complete press section of the PM2 paper machine with latest technology, which in turn will significantly improve the overall efficiency of the manufacturing process, thus strengthening the company’s overall containerboard system. The production speed of the machine is expected to increase to 1250 m/min. Also, it will reduce carbon emissions by almost 5,500 tons per annum. The upgraded PM2 paper machine will become fully operational by Q1 2023.
