SDI Metal Recycling Operations to Report Steady Earnings in Q2 2025

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Steel Dynamics Inc. (SDI) announced guidance for second quarter 2025 results.

The company expects its Q2 2025 earnings to range between $2.00 and $2.04 per diluted share. This compares with sequential first quarter 2025 earnings of $1.44 per diluted share and prior year second quarter earnings of $2.72 per diluted share.

Compared to the consecutive first quarter, SDI anticipates the company's steel activities to be much more profitable throughout the period. It predicts that the platform's metal spreads would grow as a result of rising average realized steel prices. According to the corporate news release, there will be a sequential improvement in long product steel shipments during the quarter.

It is anticipated that the company's metal recycling activities will continue to generate Q2 2025 earnings that are consistent with the previous quarter. It stated that reduced realized pricing should be countered by the stronger shipments.

The company's steel fabrication operations are likely to have lower quarterly profitability than the sequential first-quarter results, according to SDI.

In January and March of this year, the company's operations in Mississippi and Mexico successfully cast the first aluminum ingot. The business anticipates starting material shipments in the middle of 2025.

SDI will release its second quarter 2025 earnings after the markets close on Monday, July 21, 2025.
