SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Portland, Oregon-based Schnitzer Steel Industries, Inc. has been named one among the 2021 World’s Most Ethical Companies by Ethisphere. The company is one among the 135 winners this year selected from as many as 47 industries in 22 countries. This is the seventh consecutive time that Schnitzer Steel has been honoured with the prestigious title.

Tamara Lundgren, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer stated that the company is proud to again be honored with the prestigious designation as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies. It is nothing but a testament to its ongoing commitment to operating according to its core values and in support of the company’s stakeholders, she added.

The winners are judged based upon the performance against Ethisphere’s Ethics Quotient framework, which focuses on several key categories including ethics and compliance program, culture of ethics, corporate citizenship and responsibility, governance and leadership and reputation.

Normally, the selection is based on responses to nearly 200 questions based on the above themes. However, this year the question set was expanded to gauge how applicants adapt and respond to the global health pandemic, ESG factors, safety, equity, inclusion and social justice.
