Samsung, uBreakiFix Launched New Initiative to Boost E-Waste Recycling

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Leading electronics retailer Samsung and electronics repair giant uBreakiFix have joined hands to launch a new initiative aimed at boosting recycling of end-of-life electronic devices. The six-week long initiative titled ‘Erase E-Waste Challenge’ also targets to raise public awareness on the impacts of improper disposal of these devices and the need for responsible recycling of the same.

Since 2008, Samsung has been an active supporter of extended producer responsibility (EPR) for electronic goods. The company has been involved in various programs to collect and recycle used electronics. By partnering with uBreakiFix, the company intends to make electronics recycling even more accessible, by making best use of the network of nearly 570 uBreakiFix retail stores across the country.

Justin Wetherill, President and Co-founder, uBreakiFix noted that a lot of people are still unaware about what is to be done with old electronic devices or where to take them for recycling. The partnership with Samsung will help to make tech recycling more accessible to consumers.

The old devices could be dropped off at any of the uBreakiFix stores, where they will be processed and routed to a Samsung-authorized recycling partner, to be reprocessed or refurbished.
