PureCycle to Build Plastic Recycling Facility in Augusta

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Orlando-based PureCycle Technologies, Inc. announced building of its first U.S. cluster facility to produce ultra-pure recycled propylene from waste propylene. The company has already signed an agreement with Augusta Economic Development Authority to this effect.

The facility will be located at a 200-acre site in Augusta Corporate Park. The company plans to build the facility at an initial investment of $440 million during the first phase of the project, which will bring into operation three lines with a capacity of 130 million pounds each. This is likely to create nearly 80 manufacturing jobs. The facility will employ PureCycle’s licensed proprietary technology.

The company plans to expand the facility to have up to five processing lines. It aims to reach one billion pounds of production across its facilities by 2025. It must be noted that the construction of the company’s flagship Ironton recycling facility, capable of processing wide range of waste PP with varying levels of contamination, is progressing well as per previously announced schedule.

According to Mike Otworth, CEO, PureCycle, the Augusta operation will play a key role in boosting the company’s efforts to solve the ever-rising plastic waste crisis.
