Alliance Reports Notable Gains in Global Plastic Waste Efforts Under Strategy 2030

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Alliance to End Plastic Waste has reported early progress during the first year of its Strategy 2030, in its recently released 2025 Progress Report.
According to the report, the organization said its various projects helped prevent 138,162 tonnes of plastic waste from remaining unmanaged during the year. Another 165,317 tonnes were valorised. Since its creation, the Alliance has reduced 378,147 tonnes of unmanaged plastic waste and valorised 418,529 tonnes.
The organization said its programs have also helped attract $641 million in third-party and impact-investor funding since 2019. Its education and behavior-change programs have reached more than 1.5 million people, while 559 organizations participated in projects during the previous year.

In Indonesia, the Alliance has launched a pilot plant for integrated waste management in Malang Regency. The Alliance has committed up to $40 million to expand lessons from the pilot to other regencies.
In India, it has established a municipal waste facility in Mathura-Vrindavan, which is currently operating at 75% capacity. It could process up to 300 tonnes of waste per day, thus diverting 80% of city waste from landfills.
The Alliance is also addressing flexible plastics in Europe and North America through new collection models and programs. For instance, it has initiated a study of the U.S. flexible plastics system.
