One of the prominent projects is the one to establish a state-of-the-art plastic recycling plant in the capital city of Abu Dhabi. The proposed food-grade plastic recycling plant would be the first of its kind facility in the UAE. In addition to delivering notable reduction in plastic waste, the export of food-grade recycled materials from the plant will boost economic growth in the region.
The plant will be built jointly by Repeet-a subsidiary of Veolia Middle East, Beeah Group- an integrated environment and waste management company and Agthia- a leading food and beverage company.
According to the agreement, the plant would be run by Repeet. The PET for recycling would be supplied by Beeah Group. The recycled PET resin from the facility will be purchased by Agthia towards manufacturing new food and beverage containers.
