The partnership between Plastic Bank and SC Johnson stopped almost 1 billion plastic bottles from damaging our ocean ecosystem.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Vancouver, B.C.-based for-profit social enterprise Plastic Bank announced that it prevented 2 billion plastic bottles from entering the ocean. The global partnership with SC Johnson accounted for more than 50% of this environmental achievement. Also, the efforts resulted in providing income for people in various communities across the globe.
The 2 billion plastic bottles translate to approximately 40 million kilograms of plastic. As per estimates, nearly 8 million metric tons of plastic pollute the world’s oceans every year. The ongoing efforts by Plastic Bank along with its partners have played a key role in finding local solution to global plastics problem, thereby protecting the environment.

This was achieved through a network of 379 collection centers across Indonesia, the Philippines and Brazil. The partnership provided additional income to nearly 22,000 people.
