SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): French pharmaceutical firm Horus Pharma announced that it has partnered with Canadian non-profit organisation Plastic Bank to launch a new plastic recycling initiative. The initiative aims to collect and recycle nearly 100 tons of plastic per year.

The recycling scheme aligns with Horus Pharma’s environmental programme, Eco’ Ophtalmo, launched in September last year, which include significant and ambitious initiatives such as an environmental and social commitment to reach Plastic Net Zero and develop recyclable packaging.

In addition to providing environmental and social benefits, the program will enable people living in coastal communities in developing countries earn a secure income. It aims to work and act together to reduce the environmental footprint and collaborate on supporting ecologically-responsible practices.

According to Claude Claret, CEO and co-founder, Horus Pharma, the partnership has committed to recycle nearly 100 tons of plastic before it reaches the ocean, before the end of the current year. This is equivalent to nearly 5 million half-a-litre plastic bottles.
