The innovative corrugated cardboard insert developed by DS Smith is called ‘Safe Shell’.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): In order to replace the Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) foam inserts in its household blenders with sustainable, fiber-based alternatives, DS Smith has partnered with BSH Nazarje, a Slovenian small home appliance firm.
One of the top manufacturers, BSH Nazarje, produces over 170,000 blenders annually. There used to be two EPS inserts in each blender. It is anticipated that DS Smith's new approach will remove about 340,000 EPS pieces, improving sustainability and increasing customer flexibility.
