SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Nucor Corporation, in partnership with Capital Area United Way, extended support to the local community, on Veteran’s Day. The partnership distributed fresh produce and grocery gift cards to the unsung heroes at St. James Parish Hospital.
The distribution targeted members of the hospital support staff who have worked tirelessly through pandemic times in order to ensure clean, sanitary and safe environment. The primary target was folks clean the hospital, prepare the food and tend to the patients. Capital Area United Way President and CEO George Bell noted that these unsung heroes are much deserving of even more than this.
As part of the initiative, more than 100 food boxes were distributed to hospital support staff through Capital Area United Way’s United We Feed initiative. In addition, qualifying employees were given a $25 gift card from Associated Groceries, Nucor promotional items, AETNA cleaning supplies and additional Capital Area United Way resources. At each stop, the campaign shared information about the 211 informational line, which helps residents to connect with a pool of resources.
