SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Nucor Fastener division announced major expansion through acquisition of Shelbyville, Indiana-based state-of-the-art coil processing facility. The new facility will help Nucor to better serve the automotive cold heading quality (CHQ) market by offering highest quality products.
The company news release said that it will also install new bolt making equipment at the Shelbyville facility, which will expand its fastener manufacturing capabilities. The new operation will provide job opportunities for 33 people during the initial phase. Upon reaching full capacity, the number of jobs offered by the facility is expected to double.

Announcing the expansion plans, Joey Loosle, General Manager of Nucor Fastener stated that the company is excited to grow its Fastener Division with the acquisition of these assets. The expansion will further enhance Nucor Fastener’s position as a leader in steel fasteners. Addition of bolt making capacity will further add to its product offerings, Loosle added. It must be noted that the company’s fastener products are made with 97% recycled content and are more sustainable than other fasteners available in the market.
Located in St. Joe, Indiana, Nucor Fastener currently employs around 240 people. The products from the division serve a broad range of markets including automotive, machine tool, farm implement, construction and military applications.
