Nucor Steel HRC Mill Expands to Add New Paint Line

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Board of Directors of Charlotte, North Carolina-based Nucor Corporation gave approval to a new project which will add a coil paint line at its HRC mill in Arkansas. The new line will have a capacity of 250,000 tons per year and is expected to commence operations in H1 2022.

Nucor announced that the capital investment will build a high-quality continuous coil coating line with a thickness of 0.010-0.065 inches and widths varying from 35 to 72 inches. The addition is part of massive expansion plans underway at the plant. The construction of a new galvanizing line is under progress and is expected to begin operations in 2021. The company had recently announced completion of construction of a new specialty cold mill complex at the plant.

Commenting on the project, Jay Henderson, Vice President & General Manager of Nucor Steel Arkansas stated that the new line will help the company diversify its product and market mix. Further, it will add additional processing capacity and expand the range of its value-added products portfolio, which comprises of products that are in huge demand across the country and the world.
