SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Novelis, Inc.- the global leader in aluminum rolling and recycling announced that it will invest over $7 million at its Terre Haute, Indiana manufacturing facility. It will restart idled equipment at the facility, which in turn will lead to hiring of 37 new employees. The new investment will result in the plant producing aluminum for household foil applications before the end of the current year.
The company has already advertised job positions for which it seeks suitable candidates. The positions include operators, mechanics, electricians, engineers and other operational leadership roles. Interested candidates are required to submit online application via company website.
Novelis had put an end to household foil production in 2014, due to unfavourable market conditions. The success of the antidumping and countervailing duty cases against import of unfairly priced aluminum foil led to increased demand for domestically produced household foil. This has forced Novelis to re-enter the market by investing in its idled operations. The investment demonstrates its commitment to bring new, sustainable jobs to the region, said Ryan Smith, Plant Manager.
Currently, Terre Haute plant employs 155 employees, engaged in production of light-guage aluminum.
