SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Lake County has set an example by eliminating one million single-use plastics from their operations, by way of implementing a new policy that promotes sustainability. It has decided to stop purchases, sales and distribution of a wide range of single-use plastic products by the end of the current year.
According to Sandy Hart, Lake County Board Chair, the new policy is applicable to government operations. It has prevented around one million plastic items from being sent to landfills every year. The adoption of similar policies by businesses in the area will result in further reduction of plastic pollution.
