The high quality recyclate will be mostly supplied to the local Belgian market for reuse.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Fost Plus announced that it has entered into a contract with Morssinkhof Plastics Belgium to build a new plastic recycling plant with a capacity to process approximately 40,000 tons of plastic packaging per year.

Fost Plus will source around 24,000 tonnes of plastic bottle, metal packaging and drink carton waste from Belgian households, to be supplied to the recycling centre. The facility will process these materials and convert them into recycled plastic granules, which in turn will be used in the production of new packaging. The high quality recyclate will be mostly supplied to the local Belgian market for reuse.

Plastic Recycling Collaboration to Drive Shift to a Circular Economy

The recycling centre will be built on a 4.1 hectare facility at the Kristalpark III business park in Lommel at an investment of nearly €30 million. The location will provide enhanced strategic benefits owing to its proximity to roads, railways and waterways. The facility is expected to open in October 2024 and will create around sixty five new jobs in the region, said the company press release.

Wim Geens, managing director of Fost Plus noted that the company is pleased with the new facility. The new factory is the final step in the creation of a local circular economy. Furthermore, it will transform Belgium into a recycling hub in the heart of Europe, Geens added.
