SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Canadian American Iron & Metal (AIM) has been ordered to shut down its auto shredding plant in Saint John, New Brunswick by the government following noise complaints. As per media reports, the site had produced explosions that exceeded the permitted decibel limit, rattling windows and shaking homes in its neighbourhood.
A statement posted by the company on its Face book page says that the company has checked off all the conditions of its approval to operate. Any outstanding conditions are being implemented. Since 2018, the company has made considerable efforts to reduce the number of explosions in its facilities. It has hired and trained quality control inspectors to ensure thorough inspection of incoming loads and submit daily inspection reports, it says.

Meantime, Saint John Mayor Don Darling warned that AIM won’t get a new approval to operate until the issues are resolved in a balanced and satisfactory way.
