SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): A leading Midwest scrap recycler announced capacity addition and expansion plans. Holland, Michigan-based Padnos decided to open a new scrap yard that will feature an auto shredding plant in Howell. The company has reportedly filed for necessary permits for the new yard facility.

According to media release, the company has already applied for an air permit in connection with the installation of the shredder unit. It must be noted that the company had purchased the Howell site from the former Regal Recycling Inc. last year, raising the company’s total number of locations to nineteen.

The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) will accept public comments. The issuance of air permit will be subject to comments received during this period. As per media reports, a few Howell residents and city agencies have raised opposition to the plan. On the other hand, the company has managed to garner support from several other agencies as well as city residents.

Jonathan Padnos, President, Padnos observed that the proposed installation of the auto shredder plant will help the company to better serve its customers throughout Michigan.
