SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Mondi, the sustainable packaging and paper giant, announced plans to upgrade its Dynas pulp and paper mill in Sweden.
The proposed modernization project is aimed at increasing the mill’s efficiency and improving its overall environmental performance, thus positioning it well to be capable to meet the rising customer demand for sustainable paper and paper-based packaging solutions. The project comprises of installation of new and upgraded machinery and equipment, said the company press release.
For instance, the installation of new cooking plant and bark boiler will contribute significantly towards improving the mill’s efficiency. The upgrades to the mill will deliver notable reduction in air and water emissions. Furthermore, it will result in overall improvement in wood utilisation at the mill.
The company’s work application has already been approved by the Swedish Land and Environmental Court. The construction works are expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
Commenting on the development, Roman Senecky, COO, Mondi Paper noted that the modernisation programme represents a significant investment in the future of the mill. The mill plays an important role in the local community, in addition to supplying paper across Europe, he added.
