Mondi Announced Huge Investment in New Paper Machine

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Mondi plc- the UK-based multinational packaging and paper group announced its decision to invest €400 million investment in a new paper machine at its flagship Steti paper mill in the Czech Republic. The investment is part of the company’s previously announced massive capital investment programme, aimed at boosting sustainable packaging growth.

Mondi Announced Investment in New R&D Facility in Germany

The investment is expected to help Mondi to meet the growing demand for paper-based flexible packaging. It will expand the company’s wide range of innovative, sustainable packaging and paper solutions, thus strengthening its leadership position in the market further, especially in the specialty kraft paper segment. Furthermore, it will lead to optimisation of production across the remaining kraft paper portfolio.

According to company press release, the new kraft paper machine is expected to have a production capacity of around 210,000 tonnes of sack kraft paper per year.

Thomas Ott, CEO, Fexible Packaging, Mondi noted that the company is extremely pleased to announce the approval of the important investement. This is a big step forward on its journey to make all of the company’s packaging solutions reusable, recyclable or compostable by 2030, he added.
