SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): According to a new study report released by fashion retail authority Drapers, in partnership with Smurfit Kappa, the consumer appetite for sustainable packaging continues to remain strong. The Drapers Sustainability and the Consumer 2022 report indicate that fashion consumers are also concerned about climate change, which in turn has affected their purchasing decision.

According to the report, nearly two-thirds of the respondents expressed their desire to become more sustainable. Also, more than one-third have purchased products based on the sustainability of their packaging. However, approximately 51% noted that sustainable packaging should not come as a cost to themselves.
Nearly 65% of the respondents noted that it is highly important for them to know that the packaging is recycled. 42% assigned importance to use of recycled contents in packaging. Also, 49% suggested the importance of over use of packaging and preferred using small amounts of packaging.
Eddie Fellows, CEO of Smurfit Kappa UK and Ireland noted that the Drapers’ report highlights the importance of sustainable packaging for both the retailer and the end consumer. Furthermore, he urged consumers to switch to a sustainable packaging material, like paper.
