SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): At the forthcoming BIR World Recycling Convention, which will take place in Bangkok, the Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) stated that its Ferrous Division would present a plenary discussion on the future of the steel recycling business and the new tools being developed by artificial intelligence (AI).
Shane Mellor, Divisional President of BIR, will preside over the meeting, which is scheduled for Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 12:00 to 13:00.

The session will spotlight the practical applications of artificial intelligence in steel recycling, with a special focus on lithium-ion battery detection. It should be mentioned that AI has grown in importance as a tool across the recycling sector.
Additionally, two AI specialists with close ties to the recycling sector—Sean Davidson, CEO and co-founder of Jules AI, and Raghav Mecheri, CEO and co-founder of Visia AI—will give pertinent lectures.
George Adams, a divisional board member, will moderate the panel discussion that follows the presentations. The conversation will be led by Enicor's Tom Bird and another representative from an AI solutions firm. Additionally, BIR's "World Steel Recycling in Figures" will be updated by Ferrous Statistics Advisor Rolf Willeke.
