As part of the project, L’Oreal Caribe distributed a total of 100 reusable boxes to 10 beauty salons in Puerto Rico. The boxes, which could be used up to 30 times, will help in recycling waste related to plastic products. The project aims to promote sustainable practices in salons, thereby preventing plastic from ending up in Puerto Rico landfills.
The pilot project will be expanded to cover remaining beauty salons in the country. It will be scaled to 20 beauty salons in the near-term. The long-term goal is to include nearly 300 salons as part of the project.
Earlier, the L’Oréal Group had announced its goal of being “fully sustainable” by 2030. To that end, it had launched the “L’Oréal for the Future” program, marking the second phase of its sustainability journey.
