Shanghai(Scrap Monster): China's indium prices rose rapidly this week, as investors continued to buy for exchange delivery purposes, according to delegates at the 2013 China Indium Forum.
Refined indium prices climbed to 3,800-3,900 yuan ($614-630) per kg on Wednesday May 29, compared with 3,700-3,800 yuan per kg the previous week. On Thursday, indium traded at 6,150-6,180 yuan per kg on the Kunming-based Fanya Metal Exchange and 3,785-3,820 yuan per kg on the China Stainless Exchange in Wuxi.
"Indium prices rose very quickly this week on the spot market and market supply has tightened. Few market participants have much left for sale," an analyst said. Many investors have been buying the minor metal from the spot market to deliver into the Fanya Exchange.
